John K. Heidt has been a professional in the real estate field for the last thirty-six years.  After graduating from the School of Economics at UCLA with a BA in 1978, John began his career with Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate Services in Beverly Hills, California.  This company is now known as CB Richard Ellis.

John's brokerage work earned him special recognition within Coldwell Banker as he introduced the personal computer to the Beverly Hills Coldwell Banker office as a means of analyzing real estate and tracking tenant and owner data.  John was consistently recognized as one of the top ten salesmen in the Beverly Hills office of Coldwell Banker and one of the top ten investment salesmen in Southern California.

In August 1988, John acquired Chapman Evans Co., a property development/management company with a portfolio of office, retail, and industrial properties.  In September 1990, a second office in the San Fernando Valley was opened.  Subsequently, this office was moved to Westlake Village in Ventura County.  On January 1, 1995 the company was renamed Heidt Torres Co.("HT").  Dave Torres has been Chief Financial Officer of the company since August 1988.

In the early '90s property management and receivership work dominated day to day activities.  Today the company is focused on managing commercial real estate, exchanging (1031 IRS code), using John’s extensive entitlement and development expertise including acquiring commercial real estate.  Institutional clients include UCLA and during the 90’s we managed the Westside, Hollywood and San Fernando Valley REO for: Sears Savings Bank, Union Bank and Weyerhaeuser Financial Corporation including several 100,000+sf projects simultaneously.  International clients are or have been located in Australia, England, France and Germany.  Special areas of expertise and relationships with cities are Beverly Hills, Westwood Village, Santa Monica, Rancho Park, West Hollywood, Hollywood, the Miracle Mile, Studio City, Burbank, Glendale, Marina del Rey, Los Angeles and Westlake Village.

The long term growth of HT is predicated on creating value in real estate by identifying properties where financial goals can be achieved through management, development and/or “trading up,” the fostering of long term relationships and repeat business.  The success of the company is based on this philosophy.
